Stash-Small Closeup DayZ-Wiki
The small stash found in DayZ.
Item slots: 12, 25
Weapon slots: 0, 1
Backpack slots: 0
Purpose: • Discrete storage of items

A Stash is a discrete stash constructed from Sandbags used for extra storage in DayZ.

Stashes are used to store items and can be placed anywhere on the map, except inside buildings. Placing a stash can be tricky - try slowly moving the player's character to one side with the inventory open while repeatedly attempting to create a stash by right-clicking on the ETool with the sandbag(s) in the main inventory. Once placed, stashed cannot be moved or removed.

While it might seem like a good idea to hide a stash in a tree, it can cause several problems: the stash may not be accessible, there is a high risk of injury whilst trying, and the contents could be unexpectedly wiped.

Small StashEdit

As of 1.8.7, Small Stashes require one sandbag and either an ETool or Shovel to create. This provides 12 magazines of storage, but no space for weapons, tools, or backpacks. The Small Stash may only be upgraded with an ETool to increase the magazine inventory space. Using a Wood Pile, the Small Stash becomes larger with each upgrade:

Name Wood Piles Magazines
Small Stash 1 12
Stash+ 1 14
Stash++ 1 16
Stash+++ 1 18
Stash++++ 1 20

Medium Stash Edit

A Medium Stash is created when a Stash++++ is upgraded to the next level. At the Medium level, Weapons and tools are able to be stored, but no backpacks. Upgrading requires an ETool, Wood Piles, and eventually Nails.

Name Wood Piles Nails Weapons/ Tools Magazines
Medium Stash 1 - 1 25
Medium Stash+ 1 - 2 50
Medium Stash++ 1 - 4 75
Medium Stash+++ 1 1 8 100
Medium Stash++++ 1 1 16 125

Please note that, due to the small inventory size, it is very easy to lose an item by placing it in a full stash or in a stash with insufficient space.

After placement, they will be saved on the server the player set them up and will only appear on that server, same with vehicles, camo nets and tents.
